Boon Chye: Police Force Execution-without-Trial rised past 5 years
Rabu, 7 Julai 2010
(7th July, Ipoh) Dr Lee Boon Chye, Vice President Parti Keadilan Rakyat, expressed concern that execution-without-trial by police force has been on the rise over the past 5 years.
Dr Lee Boon Chye who is also the Member of Parliament Gopeng, received written reply in Parliament from the Home Affair’s Ministry that the number of ‘criminals’ shot dead by police force from 2005-2009 are as follows :
2005 – 9
2006 – 16
2007 – 13
2008 – 82
2009 – 88.
The statistics clearly showed an increasing trend with police force more trigger-happy in carrying out their duties. This followed recent incidence involving robbery of Pahang State Exco Datuk Wan Adnan Wan Mamat on 5th July 2010 where 4 alleged ‘robbers’ were shot dead.
The 4 alleged ‘robbers’ have not been given chance of due process of law.
We may recalled similar incidence involving 14 year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah from Shah Alam who was shot death by police in early hours of 26th April 2010 and also 18 year old Mohd Afdam Arin who was similarly shot death in Taman JOHOR Jaya on 20th October 2009 for alleged snatch theft activities .
Dr Lee demands open enquiries in all these cases to ensure the truth is unveiled and justice is upheld, as in the case of Aminulrasyid Amzah.
Its time to enforce recommendation by Royal Commission to Enhance the Operation and Management of the Royal Malaysia Police 2005, especially on setting up of IPCMC.
